Our story, our community
Discover the heart and soul of the Filipino Cultural Society. Learn about our journey, our purpose, and the vibrant community we serve in Auckland, New Zealand.

Why we began
The Filipino Cultural Society was founded to reconnect Kiwi-Filipinos with their rich heritage. We achieve this by presenting a dynamic mix of Filipino cuisines, traditional music, and captivating cultural performances at our events. Beyond cultural preservation, we're dedicated to empowering Filipino business owners by providing a platform for them to connect with both the Filipino community and the broader New Zealand audience.

Open to everyone
Our events are free and open to everyone, extending beyond the Filipino community in Auckland. We warmly invite people from all backgrounds to experience and appreciate Filipino culture, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation across New Zealand.

Our guiding principles
At the heart of the Filipino Cultural Society is community. We believe culture is not only something we inherit, but something we actively share, celebrate, and pass on to future generations. Our work is guided by the values of connection, inclusivity, service, storytelling, and pride in Filipino identity.
We are committed to creating spaces where Filipinos from all walks of life — migrants, international students, mixed-heritage families, second-generation youth, and friends of the community — feel welcomed and represented. We believe in bayanihan, the Filipino spirit of collective care and cooperation, and we carry this value through our events, partnerships, and community initiatives.
The Society values authenticity in the way we tell our stories. We honour both the joys and challenges of the Filipino migrant experience in Aotearoa New Zealand, recognising that our culture is rich, evolving, and deeply rooted in resilience. Through festivals, arts, food, education, and cultural programmes, we strive to showcase the true essence of Filipino identity.
